i installed act but it is not recognizing my game (EQ2) is there a detailed installation guide that someone can direct me to?

ACT doesn't really "recognize" EQ2. You enable logging in EQ2 and tell ACT where the log file is.

I suggest you try the standalone application in this thread to find your EQ2 log, if you don't know where it is...
